Custom stainless steel 304, 316 and 316L lost wax investment casting requests include CNC machining and OEM/ODM service. Passivated, polished and powder-coated surfaces are finish directions for the actual component. Alloy-steel requests require the selected specification to be agreed alongside the component drawing and working duty.
Select the grade and CNC scope
Identify the required stainless grade or agreed alloy-steel specification and define the cast geometry on the drawing. Allocate CNC machining to the actual locations requiring it. Set dimensional limits and measurement criteria for cast and machined areas separately, so that the finished component has an agreed acceptance basis.
Passivation, polishing or powder coating
Choose the finish direction for the selected component and identify the areas it covers. Define the final surface condition and the criteria used to accept it. Discuss that condition together with the chosen material and working duty, connecting the finish request to the same drawing as the casting and CNC work.
Quality-system reference and scope
The quality-system reference is ISO9001:2008. Confirm the applicable document and scope for the project, and establish what evidence is needed if current certification is a requirement. That discussion should identify the responsible organization, site and operations relevant to the actual request.
OEM/ODM design and inspection
Agree the project quantity and how design and manufacturing responsibilities are allocated within the OEM/ODM work. Identify the inspected characteristics and the dimensional or surface records needed to evaluate the component. Keep those requirements tied to the selected grade, CNC locations and chosen passivated, polished or powder-coated condition.
