A flexible shell prototype starts with the behavior the project needs to evaluate. This urethane vacuum-casting service offers rubber-like functional shells and custom plastic prototypes through a silicone-mold route, with single-piece ordering available for an individual development component.
Define the resin and the target behavior
ABS, PP, PC, POM, PMMA, nylon and rubber requirements should be discussed in terms of the actual casting resin and the behavior being sought. Confirm whether a named material describes the resin itself or a material-like response for the prototype. That distinction keeps the functional evaluation connected to what the component is made from.
A silicone-mold route for the flexible shell
The process scope includes silicone-mold vacuum casting, 3D printing and surface treatment. Establish which operations belong to the particular shell rather than assuming every project follows an identical sequence. This is a non-CNC service; any micro-machining required by the component should be defined separately within the agreed work.
Treat tolerance as a drawing agreement
The tolerance notation is ±0.15/100mm, so its interpretation should be agreed for the dimensions being evaluated. An IGES or STEP model provides the three-dimensional component reference for that discussion. Define which dimensions determine acceptance for the flexible prototype, keeping the required resin behavior and final surface condition in view.
Finish the prototype for its evaluation
Paint, plating, polishing, laser engraving, silk printing and custom treatments are finishing choices. Select the surface work needed for the shell's evaluation and agree the acceptance criteria alongside the specified 100% inspection. Projects may relate to cars, motorcycles, robots, electronics or industrial equipment, but the prototype's suitability should follow the individual component requirements.
