Define the metal component, material and finished condition for an OEM casting enquiry. ADC12/A380 aluminum, zinc alloy, carbon steel and stainless steel are material directions, with customized dimensions, a ±0.02 mm tolerance reference and Ra3.2–Ra6.3 roughness.

Agree the route for the selected metal

Die casting and investment/lost-wax casting are process directions to resolve for the actual component. Select the material grade and identify the geometry the part needs to take. The manufacturing agreement should establish the route for that combination of material and part requirements.

Separate feature tolerance from surface roughness

Identify the features that need the ±0.02 mm requirement and the surfaces that need the Ra3.2–Ra6.3 condition. Establish the roughness unit and acceptance method for those surfaces. This keeps the dimensional and surface requirements distinct while connecting both to the component drawing.

Choose a coating for the application

Chrome plating, electrophoresis, painting and powder coating are surface choices for the enquiry. Agree the treatment for the selected material and identify where it should apply. Industrial, commercial, household, automotive and building-related requests should each describe the actual component and the duty it needs to address.

Define the batch and inspection agreement

The order reference is a minimum of 100 pieces, with 100% inspection for the custom casting. Agree the dimensional and surface criteria to be inspected and any records required for the batch. If ISO9001 is required for the project, establish the relevant certificate scope together with the selected material and manufacturing route.
