OEM steel casting enquiries can cover stainless, carbon and alloy steel parts using silica sol lost wax investment casting and medium-temperature wax. Design support and DFM review help establish the requested component scope, including in-house CNC machining, polishing and assembly where required by the part.
Start from the steel grade and supplied condition
Identify the exact stainless, carbon or alloy steel grade and the condition required for the component. Quenching and tempering, normalizing and annealing can be discussed against that material specification. Agree the required outcome and acceptance checks so heat treatment is connected to the supplied part condition.
Allocate dimensional and surface requirements
For the component drawing, select the relevant CT5–CT12 class and the ±0.05–0.5 mm range according to size. As-cast roughness is Ra 1.6–3.2 Micro, with its unit and measurement basis to be defined for acceptance. Electropolishing can also be discussed, with the required surfaces and finished condition identified separately from the casting dimensions.
Include CNC finishing and assembly in the proposal
Mark the interfaces that need CNC machining and define their relationship to the casting geometry. Add any polishing and assembly requirements to the component scope, including the parts or surfaces involved. This allows the proposed operations to be reviewed together against the same drawing and intended service requirements.
Specify verification and order records
CMM inspection, material spectral reports and PT/MT/NDT are testing services to select for the relevant characteristics. Define the acceptance criteria and coverage for the part, together with material traceability, COC and any PPAP deliverables. Where ISO9001 documentation or an application-specific requirement applies, confirm the current evidence scope for the supplied component and manufacturing activity before approval.
