Stainless-steel mechanical parts can be requested with wire EDM, CNC turning and 3/4/5-axis milling. Samples and small orders are accepted, with a one-piece minimum and a range of surface finishes to agree for the selected material and component.
Select operations around the starting part
Identify the grade, starting geometry and areas requiring turning, milling or wire EDM. The broader process directions include grinding, stamping, casting, forging and rolling, along with other machining methods. For an alloy die-casting request, define the actual material and casting scope separately from the subsequent machining requirement.
Define axes and final dimensions for the sample
Specify which areas require 3-, 4- or 5-axis milling and the dimensions used for finished-part acceptance. Wire cutting, EDM and laser cutting can be considered where they belong in the component scope. A sample request should use the selected material and dimensional criteria so it represents the part being evaluated.
Choose a surface for the actual material
Galvanizing, polishing, brushing, zinc plating, painting, blasting and anodizing are finish directions. Agree the treatment with the selected material and identify any surfaces whose condition affects assembly fit. Broader inquiries can include aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, hardened or precious metals, steel alloys, exotic metals and plastic, each with its own material/process requirements.
- Name the material grade and provide the component geometry.
- Select the starting casting, forging or other part condition.
- Locate CNC, EDM and other required operations.
- Define dimensions and the final surface acceptance.
- State the sample or order quantity for the mechanical component.
Micro-machining and rapid-prototype requirements can also be included where applicable. Agree their actual method and acceptance with the rest of the component brief before selecting the processing scope.
