Custom precision investment castings for machinery parts include aluminum-alloy and steel project directions. Stainless steel, alloy steel and carbon steel are available material choices. Water-glass and silica-sol investment casting, together with CNC and other machining support, provide process directions to select for the actual component.
Material-specific casting and treatment selection
Define the exact aluminum or steel alloy and its required geometry before selecting the applicable manufacturing combination. Heat-treatment directions include normalizing, tempering and hardening. Agree which treatment is appropriate for the selected material and part, with its required condition considered alongside the casting process.
Machining around the cast shape
Machining support includes CNC, lathe work, milling and drilling. Identify the areas that need each operation and the dimensional requirements they must meet. Keep these machined characteristics distinct from the cast geometry so the component request clearly explains the work needed after the investment casting.
Zinc plating or mirror polishing
Zinc plating and mirror polishing are available surface directions. Select the applicable finish for the actual alloy and identify the areas to be treated. Agree the required surface condition and appearance criteria together with the component dimensions, so finishing is reviewed as part of the selected material and process combination.
Standard references include ASTM, DIN, ISO, BS and JIS. Specify the applicable standard and grade, then connect them to the machinery drawing, machining requirements and treatment acceptance. This provides a clear basis for reviewing the proposed aluminum or steel investment-casting project.
