Custom stainless steel bearing housings are available through OEM investment casting with machining and polishing. SS304 and SS316 are named material choices. The housing geometry, selected grade and finished bearing or mounting interfaces define the requirements for the particular component.
Define the bearing and mounting interfaces
Identify the housing shape and the dimensions that connect it to the bearing and intended assembly. State the selected steel grade and governing standard with that geometry. These requirements give the custom casting enquiry a clear component target. Final machined dimensions should be specified for the relevant interfaces.
Apply CT4-CT9 to casting dimensions
The casting tolerance reference is CT4-CT9. Mark the controlled casting dimensions and distinguish the requirements accepted after machining. This helps relate the cast shape to the final housing geometry. The drawing should make each dimensional stage clear for review.
Select polishing, plating or powder coating
Polishing forms part of the process, with plating and powder coating also available as surface choices. Identify the treatment and required condition on the relevant faces. Surface acceptance should remain consistent with the selected material and housing dimensions. These details connect appearance and treated surfaces to the finished component.
Use sample inspection to establish acceptance
Samples receive 100% inspection, with criteria agreed for their dimensions and finish. Define the production inspection plan and final functional acceptance separately for subsequent parts. The sample requirements can then be reviewed with the selected housing geometry and manufacturing sequence. This gives the OEM enquiry a practical basis for evaluating the finished bearing-housing casting.
