Customized gray iron and ductile iron investment casting parts are offered through a foundry service with CNC machining options. The component can be developed to custom dimensions, with casting and machining requirements defined separately. Gray iron and ductile iron are material choices to select against the part's function and required material specification.

Choose the material and application together

The wider material choices include steel, stainless steel, aluminum and copper as well as the two iron families. Application enquiries cover industrial, automotive, agricultural, aviation, construction and electrical parts. Identify the actual component and working duty so the chosen material is evaluated for that use, including any project-specific approval requirements.

Separate casting grades from machined dimensions

The casting tolerance range is CT4–CT6. Agree the applicable casting grade and dimensional acceptance for the drawing, then mark dimensions requiring CNC, turning, milling or 5-axis work. This keeps the casting requirement distinct from the additional machining needed for particular interfaces or surfaces.

Select the finish for the chosen metal

Surface options include painting, oxidation, polishing, electrophoresis and electroplating. Define the desired appearance and service conditions before selecting the treatment for the alloy. Mark treated surfaces and their acceptance criteria so finish requirements can be evaluated alongside the custom geometry.

Use consistent drawing and quality requirements

Drawing inputs include 2D PDF, DXF and DWG files and 3D STEP, IGS and PRT files. Quality control references ISO9001. Use a common drawing revision and specify the inspection records needed for the casting and machined dimensions so the enquiry has a clear acceptance basis.
