Custom 42CrMo alloy-steel parts use precision investment/lost-wax casting, with size and tolerance defined through the customer's drawing requirements. Tempering and coating are part of the process scope. Start with the exact material specification and component geometry before agreeing the finished condition needed for the intended service.

Keep the 42CrMo specification with the drawing

Identify the actual 42CrMo material requirement and the controlled component drawing used for the enquiry. Define the custom size, critical dimensions and interfaces that matter to the finished part. Agree the relevant tolerance and inspection acceptance for those details, keeping the material and geometry review tied to one selected component.

Define the tempered condition

Tempering is the heat-treatment scope for the alloy-steel casting. State the material condition and functional requirements needed by the actual part, then agree the accepted result of that treatment. Connect the selected condition to the drawing and intended service so that the manufacturing sequence has a clear material-acceptance basis.

Choose the required coated surface

Coating is available for the custom casting. Identify the coating type, relevant surfaces and final appearance or functional condition required by the design. Review those requirements with the tempered material and finished dimensions, ensuring that the surface acceptance describes the actual component rather than a general coating label.

Agree the applicable standard and final acceptance

Select the relevant GB, ASTM, AISI, DIN or BS requirement for the proposed 42CrMo component. Review ISO9001 certificate scope for the manufacturing service alongside the material, dimensional and surface acceptance. Confirm the drawing revision, tempering/coating requirements and accepted finished result before approving the custom lost-wax casting.
