SS304 or SS316 stainless steel machinery housings can be developed as custom lost wax cast parts with machining services. Customer-defined dimensions, shot blasting and surface treatment to demand form part of the enquiry, with OEM or ODM scope agreed for the intended housing or automotive component.
Relate the housing shape to the machine
Start with the surfaces and dimensions that position the housing in its assembly. Identify the mating interfaces and mark where machining is required to produce the specified finished geometry. This gives the casting discussion a direct connection to the machine or auto-part fit that the component must achieve.
Specify the material condition behind the requirement
Select SS304 or SS316 and state the material condition required for the application. Where hardness and wear resistance affect the housing decision, define the test method and acceptance limits relevant to that duty. A measurable requirement allows the proposed material and finished component to be evaluated against the service you intend.
Define the shot-blasted and finished surfaces
Shot blasting is a surface-treatment choice for the stainless casting, with other customer requirements to be agreed for the part. Describe the exposed surfaces and any mating areas needing a particular finished condition. Use the drawing or an approved sample to connect appearance, surface treatment and dimensional acceptance to the same housing design.
Agree the OEM or ODM acceptance scope
An OEM enquiry should identify the approved component drawing, while ODM work should establish design responsibilities and sample acceptance. Include the housing duty and any application-specific inspection or fit requirements in that agreement. If the order depends on IATF16949 documentation, review the current certificate holder, validity and covered activities as part of the supplier assessment for the project.
