Resin-sand iron castings can be supplied as custom components with machining and surface finishing based on customer drawings or samples. Ductile-iron requests include GGG40, GGG50 and GGG60, with the selected grade and finished dimensions defined for the actual part.

Keep casting tolerance separate from machined dimensions

The iron-casting tolerance range is CT9–11, while machining is specified up to IT7 according to customer requirements. Identify which dimensions remain in the cast condition and which require machining. Giving each area its own acceptance requirement helps prevent a casting tolerance from being confused with a finished bore or other machined dimension.

Bores, holes and threaded areas

CNC machining, drilling, milling, boring and tapping are available processing directions. Locate the required operations on the drawing and state the dimensions used to evaluate the completed part. If a sample is the starting reference, agree which geometry and dimensions it defines before settling the machining scope.

Surface roughness and coating choices

The machining requirement includes Ra 0.8~3.2 according to the customer requirement. Specify the roughness unit, applicable surfaces and inspection basis for your component. Custom surface treatments include Dacromat coating and finish painting; agree the selected treatment together with the final condition of machined areas.

Iron grade
Select GGG40, GGG50, GGG60 or the separately agreed material requirement.
Cast geometry
Define custom size and the areas accepted as cast.
Finished geometry
Mark machining and surface acceptance on the component drawing.

Keep a grey-iron FC250 request distinct from a selected ductile-iron grade. Matching the material, cast geometry, machining and coating in one brief gives the custom casting a clear identity and provides a practical basis for acceptance of the finished component.
