Custom gray and ductile iron parts are produced from sand-cast blanks with OEM/ODM support and CNC machining. Ductile-iron grade enquiries include GGG40, GGG50 and GGG60, while FC250 is a gray-iron choice. Drawings or samples can define the component geometry, including a selected cast-iron valve-cover enquiry.

Separate casting class from machined accuracy

CT9-CT11 is the reference for iron casting tolerance. Machining accuracy is available up to IT7 according to the component requirements, so identify the dimensions evaluated at each stage. The roughness reference is Ra 0.8-3.2, with its measurement unit and controlled surfaces to be agreed. These references should describe distinct requirements on the actual part.

Select the operations for the interfaces

CNC machining, drilling, milling, boring and tapping are the named operations. Mark which areas need each operation and the final dimensional condition expected there. For a valve-cover component, define the mating geometry and any component-specific acceptance through the drawing or sample requirements. This connects the sand-cast blank to the interfaces required on the finished part.

Choose coating or paint for the defined surfaces

Dacromat coating and finish painting are surface-treatment choices to discuss for the selected iron component. Identify the faces receiving treatment and their required condition. The exact grade and material standard, casting dimensions, machined requirements and finish acceptance should form one consistent component definition. Agree the inspection needed to evaluate those requirements. This gives the custom iron casting enquiry a practical basis for reviewing its material, machining and treated surfaces together.
