Aluminum-alloy motor flanges and end covers are available as custom OEM/ODM casting and machining projects. Black coating is one finish direction, while the dimensions and final surface treatment can be adapted to the motor component required for an automotive-industry application.
Start with the motor connection
A flange or end cover needs to be defined by the assembly it joins. Show the outer profile, mating areas and hole locations on the component drawing, and identify the dimensions that control the fit. This gives the custom work a practical reference without assuming compatibility with a particular motor model.
From aluminum casting to drilled and threaded details
The processing scope includes casting, deburring, drilling and threading, with CNC machining for the motor component. Mark the areas that require machining and distinguish them from surfaces that can retain their agreed cast condition. State thread details and dimensional acceptance so the finished cover or flange can be evaluated against the same requirements.
Define the black finish after machining
Black coating can be requested together with a customized surface treatment. Agree the coating system, appearance and areas to be treated rather than assuming that black describes a particular coating chemistry. Include any mating or threaded areas whose final condition must be controlled when accepting the coated part.
- Material selection
- Choose the aluminum-alloy grade for the actual flange or end cover.
- Machining scope
- Locate the drilled, threaded and other CNC-machined areas.
- Finished condition
- Set the required black appearance and dimensional acceptance together.
The resulting OEM/ODM brief should describe the motor interface, alloy, process scope and finish as one component requirement. It can then support discussion of the specific flange or end cover, rather than relying on a general motor-part name.
