Start the cast-steel automobile-part enquiry with its finished condition and inspection requirements. Lost wax investment casting and CNC machining form the manufacturing direction, with quenching, tempering, shot blasting and assembling available within the work scope. The actual steel grade and component plan determine which requirements must be agreed.

Build an inspection plan around the drawing

Inspection directions cover MT, UT, RT, 100% visual inspection, 100% gauge inspection and CMM. Select the applicable methods and the acceptance needed for the component. Match the inspected characteristics to the cast shape, finished machined dimensions and any requirements for the assembled condition.

Visual and dimensional checks
100% visual and 100% gauge inspection, with CMM among the inspection directions.
Further inspection choices
MT, UT and RT, with actual applicability and acceptance to agree.

Coordinate the treated and machined condition

Quenching and tempering capability uses two sets of mesh-belt furnaces. Establish the treated condition required by the selected steel and coordinate it with the CNC and assembly requirements. Machining resources include 50+ machining centers and 80+ CNC machines; discuss the actual operations needed for this automobile part.

Select the grade document and project scope

ASTM, AISI, DIN, BS, JIS, NF and AS are standard families for selecting the applicable grade document. IATF16949 and ISO14001 are certification references with scope to confirm. Submit the drawing, grade, heat-treatment condition and inspection plan together, including the required shot-blasted surface and assembling acceptance, to establish the proposed casting work.
