    Dimensions
    Drawing

Custom carbon steel precision parts use lost wax investment casting with CNC machining, with dimensions defined by the component drawing. Quenching and tempering, shot blasting and assembly extend the manufacturing route. The enquiry should identify the required material condition and the dimensions that govern acceptance of the finished part.

Start with the carbon steel grade and finished condition

Choose the actual carbon steel grade and its governing material standard for the drawing. ASTM, AISI, DIN, BS, JIS, NF and AS are the available standard families to specify against. The thermal provision includes two mesh belt furnaces for quenching and tempering; define the final condition needed by this particular component.

Plan the casting and machining dimensions together

More than 50 machining centers and more than 80 CNC machines support the custom carbon steel machining provision. Distinguish dimensions required in the cast condition from those accepted after CNC work. Identify shot-blasted surfaces and assembly interfaces alongside the dimensional requirements so the requested operations can be considered as one component route.

Set the checks against the component drawing

The visual checks and gauge checks for these drawing-defined carbon steel parts each have 100% coverage. MT, UT, RT and CMM are additional inspection methods available for the agreed plan. Specify the acceptance limits and relevant checks for the actual geometry and final condition. IATF16949 and ISO14001 certification can be reviewed for the current scope required by the order, with the drawing and inspection plan defining the particular part to be accepted.
