Custom 17-4PH stainless steel investment cast impellers serve fluid-management component enquiries. The precision references distinguish CT4–CT8 casting tolerance from ±0.02 mm machining tolerance, allowing the cast shape and subsequently machined dimensions to be discussed separately.
Impeller geometry and fluid-service requirements
Identify the impeller geometry, selected alloy and intended fluid-service requirements for the component. The 17-4PH direction gives the enquiry a specific stainless steel starting point, while acceptance conditions should address the actual part and its intended service. Assign the casting grade and machined dimensional limits to their respective areas of the design.
From molds to secondary operations
The workflow includes molds, casting, deburring, machining and surface treatment. Sand casting, welding and forging are further technology directions to select where relevant to the component requirement. Machining choices include broaching, drilling, milling, turning, tapping and wire processing; specify the areas needing these operations rather than assuming one identical sequence for every impeller.
Material choices and five surface treatments
Broader component work also covers steel, brass, copper, aluminum, iron and plastic, with the material and process combination to be agreed for the project. Polishing, passivation, sandblasting, zinc plating and black oxide are finishing directions to select for the actual material. Identify the finished surfaces and connect their requirements to the component geometry.
Standard references for the acceptance plan
Reference families include ISO, GB, DIN, JIS, ANSI, BSW, ASTM, ASME, BS, API and EN. Choose the applicable standard and criteria for the impeller's cast and machined requirements. Any certification needed for the sourcing project should be discussed through its relevant document and scope alongside the component acceptance plan.
