Railway casting projects should establish the component drawing, material and selected manufacturing route before the process proposal is approved. Precoated-sand or lost wax investment casting requirements can be discussed with CNC machining, quenching and tempering, shot blasting and assembly scope for the intended part.
Confirm the casting method on the railway drawing
Identify the component and state whether the required proposal concerns precoated-sand casting or lost wax investment casting. Relate the selected method to the material specification and the geometry defined by the drawing. This gives the casting enquiry an agreed route for reviewing dimensions and subsequent operations.
Set material and heat-treatment acceptance
Specify the alloy grade and the material condition required for the railway component. Quenching and tempering resources include two mesh belt furnaces, with the required result and verification to be agreed for the part. Include the component duty and any material acceptance criteria that the heat-treatment proposal must address.
Identify machining and assembly interfaces
Machining resources comprise 50+ machining centers and 80+ CNC machines for the proposed work. Mark the features requiring CNC machining and the interfaces included in any assembly scope. Define the shot-blasted surfaces and finished dimensions together so the machining, finishing and assembly proposal refers to the same component revision.
Build the railway part verification plan
MT, UT, RT and CMM can be specified alongside the 100% visual and 100% gage inspection commitments. Assign the required coverage and acceptance records to the relevant features, together with any railway-specific part qualification requirements. Provide exact standard designations for the order and confirm current IATF16949 or ISO14001 certificate scope where required, keeping the supplied component acceptance clear in the proposal.
